Founded in 1972, Kukkiwon is the world headquarters of Taekwondo, overseeing everything related to the martial art. Its responsibilities include training instructors, hosting demonstration performances and major domestic and international competitions, supporting the World Taekwondo Federation and Korea Taekwondo Association, and operating the Taekwondo Instructors' Training Center.
