To introduce Pilgyeongjae as merely a Korean restaurant would be a disservice to its historical significance. Pilgyeongjae is a 500-year-old traditional house built by Yi Cheon-su, great-grandson of Grand Prince Gwangpyeong (King Sejong's fifth son), and has been home to his descendants for generations. Designated as Traditional Building No. 1 in 1987, it now serves as a royal court cuisine restaurant, introducing the tastes and elegance of Korea. Dining is 100% reservation-based, with entry available 30 minutes before the reservation time, allowing guests to stroll through the grounds at leisure. The rooms furnished with tables and chairs are deeply elegant, with traditional sliding lattice doors and tranquil garden views beyond creating a seamless old-world atmosphere. The meal, like the traditional house itself, is immaculately presented. The generous intervals between courses allow ample time to savor each dish with both eyes and palate.
