Road Closures for Gangnam Festival 2026

Closure period: Sat 3 – Mon 5 October 2026 Dosan-daero area

For the Gangnam Festival 2026 Grand Parade and main events, roads around Dosan-daero will be closed from Saturday 3 October to Monday 5 October. Traffic near the festival site may be restricted or delayed during this period. Please avoid driving and use public transport, such as the subway, wherever possible.

At a glance

Sat 3 Oct, all day — the stretch from the southern end of Yeongdong-daero to Cheongdam Intersection runs on 6 lanes instead of 12.
Sat 3 Oct, 14:00–20:00 — during the Grand Parade, the parade-direction lanes between Mongjungheon and Hakdong Intersection are closed.
Sat 3 Oct 00:00 – Mon 5 Oct 05:00 — Hakdong Intersection to Dosan Park Intersection is fully closed in both directions. ※ Weddings and nearby businesses may be allowed limited use of the emergency-access lane, case by case.
Bus routes and stops along Dosan-daero may be temporarily suspended or diverted.

① Parade staging area — partial closure

Sat 3 October, 00:00 – 24:00 Southern end of Yeongdong-daero – Cheongdam Intersection

Six lanes on one side of the centre line are closed for the parade procession and staging.
Traffic runs in both directions on the remaining six lanes.
Because 12 lanes are reduced to 6, congestion is expected to be heavier than usual.
If you are travelling through this area, please take an alternative route or use public transport.

② Grand Parade route — partial closure

Sat 3 October, 14:00 – 20:00 Mongjungheon (몽중헌) – Hakdong Intersection

The lanes in the parade direction are closed while the Grand Parade is under way.
The six lanes on the opposite side stay open for two-way traffic.
During the parade, temporary congestion and delays may occur as the procession moves.
Drivers are advised to use alternative routes or public transport.

③ Main festival venue — full closure

Sat 3 October 00:00 – Mon 5 October 05:00 Hakdong Intersection – Dosan Park Intersection

All lanes in both directions are closed while the main festival venue is built and operated.
General traffic and buses cannot pass during this period.
One emergency-access lane is kept open for people using facilities near the venue.
Closures are lifted progressively after the festival ends, with full reopening by 05:00 on Monday 5 October.

The map below covers Saturday 3 October only, section by section. On Sunday 4 and Monday 5 October, the full closure described in ③ (Hakdong Intersection – Dosan Park Intersection) remains in place until it is fully lifted at 05:00 on Monday 5 October.

Bus information

Because of the closures, bus routes and stops serving the Sinsa Station direction on Saturday 3 October and Dosan-daero between Hakdong Intersection and Dosan Park Intersection on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October are temporarily suspended or diverted.
Detour routes and skipped stops are listed below by route. Diversions are also announced on board the buses.
On festival days, traffic guides and on-site staff will be stationed at major stops and closure points.

Frequently asked questions

When do the road closures start and end?

From 00:00 on Saturday 3 October to 05:00 on Monday 5 October. The type and hours of closure vary by section.

Which section is fully closed?

Hakdong Intersection to Dosan Park Intersection. All lanes in both directions are closed from 00:00 on 3 October to 05:00 on 5 October, and neither general traffic nor buses can pass. One fire lane is kept open for nearby premises, and access for weddings or local shops is arranged on request.

Which roads are closed during the Grand Parade?

From 14:00 to 20:00 on Saturday 3 October, the parade-direction lanes between Mongjungheon and Hakdong Intersection are closed. The six lanes on the other side run two-way.

Can I drive between Yeongdong Bridge south end and Cheongdam Intersection?

Yes, but with fewer lanes. On Saturday 3 October six lanes on one side of the median are closed for the parade line-up and the remaining six lanes carry two-way traffic. Expect heavier congestion than usual.

Which buses are diverted?

Trunk routes 143, 145, 240, 242, 301, 342, 343, 345, 440 and 472, branch routes 2416, 3011, 4212, 4312 and 4318 and airport bus 6006 are diverted; express routes 9407, 9507 and 9607 run a shortened service turning back at Gyeonggi High School Intersection. Most detours apply on Saturday 3 October only; 145, 342, 343, 440, 3011 and 4212 are diverted until 05:00 on Monday 5 October, and 301, 472 and 4312 only from 14:00 to 20:00 on 3 October. When do the roads reopen?

Closures are lifted in stages after the events end, with full reopening by 05:00 on Monday 5 October. Bus detours return to normal as soon as roads reopen.

What is the best way to get to the festival?

Use public transport. Traffic around the venue is restricted or delayed during the festival, and bus routes and stops along Dosan-daero are temporarily suspended or diverted. Traffic guides and on-site staff are stationed at major stops and closure points on festival days.
