About

Standing 293 meters tall, Daemosan was originally called Halmi-san ('old woman mountain') for its shape. After King Taejong's tomb (Heonneung) was enshrined nearby, a royal decree renamed it Daemosan. The mountain offers both a ridge trail following the mountain spine and a circumference trail that remains close to nature. A stone cairn built up over 20 years and an observation deck are notable landmarks. The summit is approximately 3 km away — once you pass the steep stairs, the remainder is relatively gentle ups and downs. In 2021, 'Jarak-gil,' a trail with reduced incline, was created to allow safe forest access for people with disabilities, the elderly, and expectant mothers who would otherwise find hiking difficult.
