Pilgyeongjae
Famous Royal Cuisine Restaurant
About

Pilgyeongjae — meaning 'a place where one must always live with the attitude of respecting one's elders.' Built in the 15th century, this ancestral house of the Jeonju Yi clan's Jeonganbujeonggong lineage features a signboard bestowed by King Seongjong that tells its 500-year history. Registered as Gangnam-gu Traditional Building No. 1, it has operated as an authentic royal court cuisine restaurant since 1999. Inside are over 50 structures including the gate house, middle gate, inner quarters, men's quarters, Chunghyodang Hall, and rear garden. Popular for formal wedding meetings and wedding photo shoots, its traditional hanok charm is enhanced by atmospheric lighting.
