Introduction

Songeun Cultural Foundation is a non-profit cultural foundation established in 1989 to support exhibitions and research activities of young talents in the art world. In the meantime, we have been operating various non-profit exhibition spaces and providing a stage where domestic and foreign artists can be active. In addition to space management, we have continued to support new artists through art awards and exhibition contests, and the need for an exhibition space that allows for more diverse variations has emerged. Therefore, in 2021, a new headquarters building, the ST Songeun Building, was built with the goal of creating a sustainable environment that can highlight a wide range of contemporary art. SONGEUN is a newly opened cultural space within the new headquarters building. We continue to support talented young artists and connect art and the public through original exhibitions and programs. Starting with the special exhibition for the construction of the new headquarters, which was jointly planned by the Song Eun Cultural Foundation and the architectural office Herzog & de Meurung (HdM), it is actively meeting the audience. ST Songeun is HdM’s first building in Korea.
