Introduction

Art Prize Gangnam is Korea's only public-participation art competition. Under the slogan 'Spaces as Art, Life as Art,' selected works are displayed throughout the shops of Nonhyeon-dong Furniture Street. The stores' wide show windows are transformed into galleries, and concerts add to the artistic atmosphere. Organized through a public-private partnership between Gangnam-gu and the Gangnam Cultural Foundation, the festival is built together by visitors, residents, and merchants. In 2019, 1,374 works were exhibited from across the nation; in 2020, participation grew to 1,625 works and 758 artists.
