Introduction

Photo: ⓒ 권보준
The north facade is designed as a simple yet clearly defined large mass. The south facade segments the large mass vertically and horizontally into a varied and engaging composition. To unify the diverse sizes and shapes, warm sand-colored long bricks were chosen, while smaller masses on the south facade employ varied bonding patterns to add visual interest.
A newly built structure may initially feel unfamiliar, sometimes causing unease in the neighborhood. But a building clad in warm-toned materials and colors will gradually dissolve that otherness, quickly blending in as if it had always been part of the streetscape. The hope is that SANDY BOX will bring warmth to the neighborhood and seamlessly become a natural part of the street.
