Introduction

Standing 306 meters tall alongside Daemosan in the Gaepo-dong area, this mountain carries a legend: ten dragons were ascending to heaven when they were spotted by a human, causing only nine to complete the journey — their traces became the mountain. The dragon that failed and perished is said to have become Yangjaecheon Stream. Indeed, Guryongsan comprises nine valleys. The main peak is Guksubong, lower than the summit, where a beacon station and rock cave quarters existed since before the Joseon Dynasty, housing beacon soldiers. The observation deck offers panoramic views of Seoul and the Han River region in Gyeonggi-do.
